Howard
Liebman

Ph.D., Superintendent

A visionary in the field of innovative online education, Dr. Howard A. Liebman is a nationally recognized educator and entrepreneur with experience in founding and leading successful public and private education-related enterprises. In May 2004, he co-founded the University of Miami Online High School as CEO and facilitated its rapid growth. Under his leadership, the University of Miami Online High School, along with the Virtual Sage curriculum publishing company, was acquired by The Washington Post Company in April 2007.

Prior to co-founding the University of Miami Online High School, Dr. Liebman served 11 years in public and private education as a principal, assistant principal and teacher. He holds a Ph.D. in Education from Barry University, a master’s degree in Social Work from Florida International University, and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Florida.

Teresa Salafrio brings a wealth of experience in both traditional and online school settings to her position as Principal. She served as Principal for the University of Miami Global Academy, an online AdvancED/SACS accredited college preparatory program, from 2009 to 2012. In 2005, she was also instrumental in growing the University of Miami Online High School (UMOHS) and served as both teacher and principal for the school.

Prior to joining UMOHS, Salafrio was named an Exceptional Student Education Teacher for Florida's Broward County Public Schools.
